Biography - Benjamin R. Peek

Ben is President and CEO of Peek & Associates, Inc. He was GST's Senior Fellow 1997-2001, the President of GST Internet 1995-1997, and the CTO of GST during its final year. Ben was the technical lead responsible for the sale of the company to Time Warner Telecom for $650,000,000 in February 2001.

Prior to GST, Ben was active in his own consulting firm, Peek & Associates, Inc. The consulting firm is active in designing fiber networks for Electric Lightwave, Bonneville Power, TransAlta Utilities Corporation in Alberta, and several other carriers and utilities. Peek was the director of the Oregon Advanced Computing Institute from November 1987 until its 1992 transition to become the Oregon Joint Graduate Schools of Engineering, a graduate program including the Oregon Graduate Institute of Science and Engineering, Portland State University, Oregon State University and the University of Oregon. Concurrently, Ben was the Executive Vice president of Cogent Research, Inc., a company designing and building massively parallel supercomputers.

Ben holds a Bachelor of Computer Science from Colorado State University. He also completed Executive Management Programs at Harvard and Penn State University.
