Biography - William White

William White has over 20 years of diverse business experience in computing and telecommunications industries. William served as Chief Information Officer and Vice President of Strategic Planning for Carrier Access. Responsible for the Corporate strategy and IT organization for Carrier Access. The primary focus for the Corporate Strategy is defining the market needs, product requirements and overall program management for their expansion into IP services, both for the Carrier segment as well as for the Enterprise segment. An example is how will VoIP be delivered by major Carrier's and how can Enterprise customers incorporate VoIP to lower costs. The second area of responsibility is their IT organization, which covers all business applications, manufacturing systems, web portals and operations.

William was Chief Information Officer and Executive Vice President of @Link Networks, an Integrated Communications Provider. As CIO was responsible for setting the systems strategy to enable @Link to support its external and internal customers. This covered all applications development, both custom and 3rd party packages, data center operations, voice and data networks, PC support. This included building the teams to perform functions such as: Software Development, Testing, Data Center Operations including ISP support, Call Center Support (e.g. ACD), LAN support and Requirements Development.

Previously, William was Chief Technology Officer of USWEST Information Technologies. This position was responsible for two major organizations within USWEST Information Technologies. The first is the Enterprise Architecture Center and the second was the Year 2000 Program Office for the USWEST Communications Company. Additionally was responsible for 300 employees and a 125 million-dollar budget. The entire Y2K program covered an additional 500 employees in separate business units and an additional 125 million-dollar budget. In the last few months at USWEST, led the IT Merger team supporting the pending merger with QWEST.

From 1992 to 1994, William was Director of Software Engineering at NCR as a result of the acquisition of Teradata. In this capacity, was responsible for the Application Development Environment (ADE) Business Unit, which included full P&L. This business unit provided a set of products that facilitated application development on NCR UNIX. The product set covered both procedural software development and object oriented development. The products included compilers (C, C++ and COBOL), development workbenches, GUI design tools and software configuration management.

William holds a Bachelor of Computer Science from Colorado State University. He also completed Executive Management Programs at Harvard and Penn State University.
